Title: "Finding our Voice as Asian American Women"
Asian American women in the church are faced with confusing messages and many pressures. What does it mean to be a woman in the Asian American church? How do we respond to the various pressures from our families, culture, and society, and live out our faith in Jesus at the same time? How can women use their God-given gifts as leaders in the church? This session will discuss the cultural and church pressures facing Asian American women and give a biblical perspective to encourage women to discover their voice and flourish in their God-given vocations. Men are welcome to attend. - David Lee (daviddlee@hotmail.com):
Title: "The Broken Church"
Stories of problems in churches comes from news outlets and our own personal experiences and lead us to one conclusion: the church is not what it's supposed to be. Whether dealing with Asian American intergenerational church issues, or sensing that traditional church practices are no longer relevant or effective, we want to know how can we have a church that reaches the ideals of our Christian faith. We'll talk about problems we see in churches today and how God guides us in our response and in our efforts to have a Christ-honoring church community. - David Park (dpark75@gmail.com):
Title: we are what we create: exploring the connections between Asian American identity, creativity and the church
The asian american life so far has been predicated on our ability to succeed, produce and consume. we are the highest-educated, largest wage-earning ethnic demographic in america. but while asian americans are writing bestselling novels, producing and acting in movies, dancing on mtv and crooning ballads on american idol, where do asian american christians come in? why is it that our churches worship and preach like white churches? could there be a connection between our theology and our identity, which would then influence our artistry? david park presents a brief history and asks even more questions to explore together about what is at stake when the asian american church only produces and consumes, but does not bother to create.
Bio:
blogger and seminary student, park is always re-imagining what asian american church can be. with a varied background in marketing, sushi bar hosting, bank telling, and "office space" life, park brought a unique perspective to canaan korean presb. church as a youth pastor for the few years he served there. for now, he's a frightened new dad and realizes he has less time than he thought to change the world, or at least his front lawn. - Jason Kong (jasonakong@hotmail.com):
Title: 'Single and Satisfied'

Title: "Healthy Ministry Teams"
Workshop description: Whether you're part of a church staff, a congregational committee, or a short-term mission team, there are some teams that you find absolutely energizing. And then there are those teams that you regret signing up for completely. What makes one team different from another? In this session, we'll explore several dynamics of a healthy ministry team that incorporate creativity and energy in achieving your end goals.

Title: "Living for Jesus in a World of YouTube, Facebook, MTV, Casual Drinking, and Harry Potter"
In 1 John 2:15, the Bible teaches Christians to not love the world or anything in the world. But for most of us, it's easier said than done. As college students and young adults, we interact with the secular world on a daily basis from our iPods, televisions, computers, schools, workplaces, books, and friendships. Is there a way for us to be pure and holy without disengaging with the world and living like hermits? Should we simply avoid television shows like "The Hills", books like "Harry Potter", unbelieving friends, and social settings that involve alcohol? Or is there a way we can watch television, surf the Internet, listen to all types of music, and befriend all kinds of people that glorifies God? In this seminar, we will discuss how to apply Biblical principles to our everyday. - Ed Sohn (edsohn80@gmail.com):
Title: "Global Missions: Imaging the Gospel Beyond Traditional Evangelism"
Church-planting and the presentation of Christian doctrine into unreached or under-reached people groups has long occupied a special place as the most important aspect of missions, while humanitarian aid and justice ministries have been alienated as biblical but less important. But might grace be better demonstrated through free food for the hungry and investment into underdeveloped nations, and not always simply through the "Four Spiritual Laws"? Might the freedom of a persecuted, oppressed captive be a clearer communicator of salvation than a recitation of John 3:16? And might this be the way that God has moved through all of human history, including Christ's time on earth? This workshop will challenge and question notions that verses and churches are the only (or the best) vehicles for the Christian gospel to manifest, especially in a postmodern era where a defense of the gospel must involve elements of narrative and experience more than rationale and logic.

Looking at the emotional process at work within each individual families to those in church, one can identify the influences of previous generations upon life cycle events. These influences, once identified, hold key to unlocking the knowledge of why my family is certain way or why one chooses a certain partners and even why certain relational pattern keeps get in the way of deeper intimacy with oneself, others and God.
